It’s pretty late here in the UK right now, but something super exciting has just happened in PlayStation’s State of Play and we’re here to tell you more. If you’re joining us straight after the stream, you’ll know exactly what we’re talking about.
We’re delighted to announce that AWE, the second expansion to Control, is launching later this month on August 27 across Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. We know our community have been waiting for this news for quite some time now, so we’re thrilled to finally be able to talk about it.
Check out the AWE trailer below…
AWE will take Bureau Director Jesse Faden to the Investigations Sector of the Oldest House, where the Federal Bureau of Control closely examines Altered World Events (AWE) – happenings where paranatural forces breach our world with sometimes grave consequences.
Players will be required to enter the Investigations Sector and confront the creature lurking within this long-abandoned part of the Bureau. To reclaim the Investigations Sector from its clutches, Jesse will need to explore the Altered World Events investigated here, including one from the town of Bright Falls where Jesse learns more about the disappearance of the writer Alan Wake.

What’s more, Control players will also receive a free update in August. Expect an all-new upgrade for Launch, called Multi-Launch, as well as additional checkpoints that have been added to more challenging missions, as well as additional quality of life features. (Stay tuned for more info!) August’s update also brings about additional usability options in Assist Mode, which can be enabled or disabled separately from each other in Control’s options menu.
Excited for AWE? Want to know more? On August 13th, there will be a world premiere of AWE over on Remedy’s Twitch channel from 9am PDT, featuring Sam Lake, Mikael Kasurinen and hosted by Vida Starcevic. twitch.tv/remedygames
Exciting times ahead! We can’t wait to show you more.
